“Show Time” Terry Koehne virtually called us to order. He then administered the Motto Quiz, where we have to remember the various Words of Wisdom that govern our actions. (It’s “Serve to Change” at the international level and “Reconnecting – Back Together Again” at the club level; nominations are open for any additional mottos you might fancy.) The Greeter, the elusive Dennis Garrison, thrilled us with the Flag Salute and Thought for the Day from the book “Never Wrestle with a Pig” – something about people who count on luck. It was not memorable, but you have to love the source. Garrison filled us in on all the tribulations of operating sports clubs in a pandemic. “I run the mask and vaccine mandates, so people feel free to come and dump on me. It’s a living.”
Show Time announced that we were dropping the Welcome Song, “Arriba, Abajo, A Centro, A Dentro…Bienvenidos,” since he lacks the teaching credential necessary to do it properly. He then told an inappropriate joke about old men and their bodily functions, which this correspondent did not find amusing. He did exhort us to be open to change, probably not a good sign.
