Opening: John Milich, the “Copy Cat” was absent from the California High School Library where our annual joint meeting with Interact was held. So, we relied on Colette Lay to MC the show. The usual “Barry Rassin of the Bahamas is R. I President and his theme is ‘Be The Inspiration’” was recited.

The Flag Salute and Oath of Allegiance were led by John Tatum who offered a poem that meant a lot to him. “Look to this day for it is Life”. “Yesterday is a dream …Tomorrow is a vision.”
Main Event: This was a meeting of the Interact students led by President Shannon. She introduced the 14 members of the Board and offered highlights of the club’s activities, both locally and globally, over the year.  The club’s 200 members put in 724 hours as volunteers at over 20 events.

Some $500 was donated directly by the club and there were numerous fund-raising events. “Rise Against Hunger” is a major program of Interact and helps people here and around the world in need of food. The club also supported “Bay Area Movers and Shakers”, the District Kickoff, Inter key, Adopt a Family, the Primo’s “Run for Education”, among others.

Upcoming events include the Rise Against Hunger fund raiser on Feb. 16, the Art and Wind Festival food booth, and the Sunny Glen Smoke alarm Project.  On Feb 25-27 “On Fire Pizza” will contribute a portion of their proceeds to Interact. Additional fund raisers and food drives are expected. Wednesday weekly meetings are at 12:45 pm.

This year’s advisers are Gary Sloan and Norbert Walz.
